NHL fans in Saskatchewan will have to wait a little longer for the league to make its return to the province.
Due to ongoing COVID-related restrictions in Manitoba, the Winnipeg Jets were exploring the idea of playing some home games at SaskTel Centre in Saskatoon.
The NHL team sent out a survey asking its season-ticket holders about the possibility of playing home games in another jurisdiction.
The survey was quickly met with the majority of votes in favour of staying put in Winnipeg.
The organization sent out an official email Friday morning to season-ticket holders saying the team would continue to play its games in Winnipeg at the Canada Life Centre.
However, until public health orders change, the maximum attendance for a Jets game will only be 250 fans.
Sportsnet’s Elliotte Friedman confirmed the news that Winnipeg will be staying put.
Morning update: it appears as if games in Saskatoon are not going to occur. Liked the idea, though https://t.co/55s3u9rpgr

The last time the NHL made an appearance in the province was the 2019 Heritage Classic, with the Jets defeating the Calgary Flames 2-1 at Regina’s Mosaic Stadium.
