People visiting loved ones at Saskatchewan Health Authority (SHA) long-term care homes in Saskatoon will have new restrictions to consider on Thursday.
Starting at 4 p.m., care homes and affiliates in Saskatoon will move to Level 1 restrictions for the next two weeks due to increased community transmission of the Omicron COVID-19 variant.
The new restrictions mean each resident can designate two consistent support or family persons. Only one person can be indoors at a time. More than two people can be used for end-of-life care.
The restriction will be reviewed on Jan. 20, according to a provincial news release.
“Level 1 restriction will only be maintained if the outcomes of Omicron in (long-term care) warrant it at that time,” the release read.
Proof of vaccination is also required for all visitors at long-term care facilities operated by the SHA.
