The Saskatchewan Rush and the National Lacrosse League (NLL) have announced the postponement of all games scheduled this week.
The decision — released in a statement Monday by the league — was made out of an “abundance of caution,” with the threat of COVID-19.
“We have been in constant contact with authorities, media, and business partners and officials on both sides of the border monitoring developments up to the minute. With that information, we feel it is in the best interests of all to reschedule the three games we have this coming weekend until later in the season,” reads a statement from the NLL.
The statement continues to outline the NLL’s commitment to keeping, “the competitive balance of our league in place while making sure that our number one priority is, and always will be, the health and safety of our athletes, our coaches, our staff, and our fans.”
The league is expecting to continue its schedule on week six of the season, beginning Jan. 7, 2022.
Rush to update fans on new date against San Diego
Along with the league’s announcement on postponing games for the week comes the postponement of the Rush’s New Year’s Eve affair with the San Diego Seals.
In its release Monday, the team said it will provide an update to fans and season ticket holders when the new date for the game is finalized.
“All tickets and suites for December 31st will be valid on the new game date once rescheduled,” reads the statement.
The Rush are scheduled to play on Jan. 8, 2022, when they travel to Albany for a date with the Firewolves. The team isn’t home again until Jan. 29th when they host Panther City at the SaskTel Centre.
