It’ll be great to see the WHL back on the ice tonight and in front of the fans.
It was March 2020 when the season was put on ice and we’ve lost two Memorial Cups since the start of the pandemic.
But here we are in Saskatchewan, where fans could be spoiled over the next two years with Connor Bedard in Regina.
Bedard received the first-ever WHL exemption and was leading the league in points as a 15-year-old in the WHL bubble earlier this year. He then starred for Canada in the U-18 tournament.
The young man is mature beyond his years and didn’t seem at all out of place in his first small sample size. What he showed is you need to watch him before he’s gone.
Add in another potential future NHL first-rounder in Brayden Yager with the Warriors, it adds a bit more spice to the Moose Jaw-Regina rivalry.
No matter if it’s Bedard or Yager, or just reliving the great Raiders-Blades rivalry, let’s enjoy the chance to once again see the future of the game right here at home.
