8:30 – Chief Cadmus Delorme of the Cowessess First Nation has been at the forefront of reconciliation efforts since the discovery of hundreds of unmarked graves at the site of the former Marieval residential school. Chief Delorme joins Gormley to tell us how he’s marking the first National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, what the day means to him, and share the news that more than 300 people buried at the gravesite have now been identified.

10:00 – Gordon Whitecalf chairs the Treaty 6 Education Council and has served in a number of leadership roles in Saskatchewan’s First Nations community. Whitecalf says he was raised with very traditional values, but later gained experience off-reserve which he says gave him valuable lessons on the points of view of non-Indigenous people and the causes of tension and clashes between the two groups. Whitecalf joins Gormley to discuss reconciliation in Saskatchewan, and why he’s hopeful for the future.

11:00 – John Lagimodiere is leaving journalism after 24 years as the publisher at Eagle Feather News. Lagimodiere joins Gormley to share a bit about his career and retirement, and what he will continue to work on to change the conversation around Indigenous issues.

12:00 – Documentary filmmaker Anthony Towstego’s latest war doc (his 11th such project) highlights the service and sacrifices of First Nations soldiers from the Muskeg Lake Cree Nation. ‘Canada Remembers Our Heroes: A Soldier’s Land’ airs on AMI (Accessible Media Inc.) tonight, and will be replayed on Nov. 11 for Remembrance Day. Alex Tawpisim is featured in the documentary, sharing his grandfather’s story from WWI, and both Alex and Anthony join Gormley to tell us about the unique project.
