The Regina region has the highest COVID-19 vaccination rates in Saskatchewan, while regions in the far north have the lowest.
In a chart published Monday, the provincial government revealed vaccination rates by area and by age in each area.
According to the data, 80 per cent of those eligible to get vaccinated in the Regina region had received their first dose and 74 per cent had got their second shot. Both figures were the highest in the province.
The Saskatoon area was second in both categories, with 77 per cent of eligible residents getting their first dose and 71 per cent receiving both doses.
Vaccination rates were lowest in the far north-central region, where 52 per cent of eligible residents had received one dose of a COVID vaccine and 38 per cent had received two shots.
Only 32 per cent of individuals aged 12 to 17 in that region had got one shot and just 15 per cent of those people had received both shots.
The far northwest area had the second-lowest rates, with 56 per cent of people getting one shot and 46 per cent getting two injections. The far northeast region was next-lowest, with 64 per cent of people getting one vaccination and 50 per cent receiving two shots.
Provincewide, 94 per cent of Saskatchewan people aged 80 and over had received one dose and 90 per cent were fully vaccinated.
The 12-to-17 and 18-to-29 age groups were tied for last in both categories, with 69 per cent of eligible people getting one shot and 56 per cent getting two injections.
The government said 793,087 people — or 78 per cent of those over the age of 12 — had got their first shot, and 709,501 (70 per cent of the eligible population) had received two doses.
