The Saskatchewan RCMP has confirmed that two men found dead in an SUV near Good Spirit Lake on Monday were murdered.
In a media release Thursday, the Mounties said the victims were 29-year-old Bryton Lawrason and 20-year-old Seth Hildebrand, both of Edmonton.
“Both deaths are considered homicides and cause of death will not be released as the information is part of the ongoing investigation,” the RCMP release said. “To be clear, this is not a homicide-suicide investigation.”
Officers from the Canora detachment got a call Monday just after 8 p.m., about an orange-coloured SUV parked on Tiny Grid Road near the Burgis Beach turnoff.
Officers and paramedics who arrived at the scene found two men dead inside the vehicle.
The police are asking the public to share any information they have about the activities of the two men or of the 2013 Dodge Journey SUV in which they were found.
The RCMP said the vehicle was in the areas of Burgis Beach, Good Spirit Lake, the town of Canora and the city of Yorkton on Monday.
Investigators also would like to speak with anyone who may have travelled along Tiny Grid Road near the Burgis Beach turnoff on Monday or who may have seen the vehicle at any time.
The RCMP provided pictures of the two men and of a vehicle similar to the one in which they were found in hopes someone saw them Monday or in the days before that.
Anyone with information is asked to call the Canora RCMP at 306-563-4700, the Saskatchewan RCMP at 310-RCMP or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
