The Saskatchewan RCMP is investigating a suspicious death near the Big River First Nation.
In a media release, the Mounties said officers from the Spiritwood detachment responded Wednesday at about 5:45 a.m., to a call about an alleged assault on two men.
During their investigation, the officers found one of the victims dead in a vehicle just outside the Big River First Nation on Highway 793.
The man has been identified, but the RCMP didn’t release his name. An autopsy is set for Monday in Saskatoon.
“The circumstances surrounding the death are being considered suspicious and continue to be investigated by the Major Crime Unit,” the media release said. “Residents of Big River First Nation will continue to see an increased police presence in and around the community as a result of the ongoing investigation.”
