The Saskatchewan Roughriders are looking for some true believers to step forward.
The CFL team announced Monday its latest fundraising venture — the BEL13VER Wall.
In a media release, the Roughriders said they were inviting fans to purchase a spot on the wall, which the team called “an exclusive opportunity to show their pride and have their names inscribed inside beautiful Mosaic Stadium for all to see.”
The wall, which is to be located inside one of the stadium’s lounges, is to be installed later in 2021.
The cost to inscribe a name on the wall begins at $99 and goes up in price depending on font size. There’s an option for families that starts at $219.
The Roughriders are launching the campaign just days after announcing a $7.5-million loss at their 2020-21 annual general meeting, in large part due to COVID-19. The team expects a multi-million-dollar loss for the 2021-22 fiscal year as well.
“Rider Nation has been there to lift us up through so many difficult times, and right now we need another boost,” Roughriders president and CEO Craig Reynolds said in the release.
“There is a lot of optimism in our future with the 2021 season and a stadium full of fans, but unfortunately it won’t be enough to make up our shortfall. The BEL13VER Wall is such a beautiful addition to Mosaic Stadium, and we hope this opportunity will inspire our fans to join the BEL13VERS and help us recover from the pandemic.”
