There were some scary moments at a school in Saskatoon’s Pleasant Hill area Thursday morning after a brief lockdown.
Saskatoon police say at 11:40 a.m., they were called to the 300 block of Avenue N South for a report of a fight between a man and a woman where a gun was involved.
An elementary school in the area went into a brief perimeter lockdown during the incident. SPS school resource officers were on hand to offer support to staff and students.
The school wasn’t identified by police, but St. Mary’s Wellness and Education Centre is in that block.
When police found and arrested the pair a short time later near 20th Street West and Avenue P South, the man had a sawed-off shotgun and a collapsible baton. The woman had a fake gun and some pepper spray.
No one was injured, but the pair is now facing several charges including possession of a dangerous weapon, possession of methamphetamine, and breach of release conditions.
