After months of studies and public feedback, a location has been chosen for a new elementary school in Saskatoon.
Public school trustees decided Tuesday night to build the new facility on the Princess Alexandra School site between 20th Street and 22nd Street.
The new west-side facility, which was approved by the provincial government in March 2020, will combine students from three aging schools — King George, Pleasant Hill and Princess Alexandra.
Originally, the Princess Alexandra site was the preferred location, but in January, Saskatoon Public Schools began exploring Optimist Park for the consolidated City Centre School.
The estimated cost of the project is $29 million. The school is expected to open sometime in 2024 or 2025.
