After a battle that has gone on since Monday afternoon, the wildfire northeast of Prince Albert has been declared “contained.”
That’s according to both the federal active fire map from Natural Resources Canada and the provincial active fire map. Late Wednesday, the blaze, coined the Cloverdale wildfire, was marked as 65 per cent contained.
SaskPower has said its crews have been cleared to enter the area to start the restoration of power to around 8,000 homes north of the city. The power initially went out in areas as north as Stanley Mission on Monday.
SaskPower has also since said it expects to have all power restored by 2 p.m. Thursday.
The City of Prince Albert has registered 75 evacuated households as well due to this blaze.
To date, no homes have been destroyed by the blaze and the pulp mill was left unscathed.
