8:30 – Bill C-10, a bill which aims to strengthen the Canadian content system by regulating streaming services like Netflix, was amended last week to include regulation over social media as well. Many are concerned the bill would essentially make all online content subject to government review and approval, calling C-10 an “assault” on freedom of expression in Canada. Rachel Harder is the Conservative critic for digital government, and she joins Gormley to explain the issues with C-10 and what alternatives the government should be using instead.

10:00 – Lisa Broda, Saskatchewan’s Advocate for Children and Youth, is concerned about the hidden impact the COVID-19 pandemic is having on young people in our province. According to Broda’s latest report, the pandemic has made it harder to reach all parts of the province and may have led to underreporting of violence and abuse and difficulties in accessing services. 11:00 – The Saskatchewan RCMP is under new management. Assistant Commissioner Rhonda Blackmore is the new commanding officer of the province’s RCMP, having previously served in Assiniboia, White Butte, and Buffalo Narrows during her 25-year career. 12:00 – Bridges Health is holding its third annual Breaking Barriers conference on May 7, aiming to tackle mental health issues, particularly resilience. The conference will be held virtually this year, and the proceeds are going to benefit Possibilities Recovery Centre to aid in addictions treatment and recovery. Eric Olauson with Bridges Health and Kayla McKay with Possibilities Recovery Centre join Gormley to tell us more about the event and how the proceeds will be used.
