Heavy smoke and flames greeted firefighters Friday night at an abandoned house at 1816 22nd Street West.
Around 9:20 p.m. fire crews were called to the scene by a passerby.
It took about 20 minutes to get the blaze under control.
Rescue crews made their way through the house to make sure it was vacant and found no one inside.
Mounds of garbage left in the house added another challenge in the search and firefighting effort.
An investigation has determined the cause of the fire is suspicious and Saskatoon police are assisting with the case.
The fire caused around $200,000 in damage.
