8:30 – There are now four COVID-19 vaccines approved in Canada: Pfizer-BioNTech, Moderna, AstraZeneca, and Johnson & Johnson. AstraZeneca has an efficacy of 62 per cent in preventing symptomatic cases. Both Pfizer-BioNTech and Moderna have 95 per cent efficacy. All three have been shown to prevent 100 per cent of hospitalizations and deaths due to COVID-19. 10:00 – The Canadian Forces is dealing with misconduct allegations against two of its top officers this year. First, Gen. Jonathan Vance, former Chief of the Defense Staff, was hit with sexual misconduct allegations shortly after his retirement in January. His replacement, Admiral Art McDonald, soon stepped down as well amid misconduct allegations against him. The House of Commons Defence Committee is studying the allegations against both officers this week, and David Pugliese, who’s been following the news closely for the Ottawa Citizen, joins Gormley to share the latest.
