SaskPower is warning people about a new scam.
According to the Crown corporation, a number of customers have said they’ve received calls from someone claiming to be from SaskPower asking for access to the customers’ homes. The caller says they want to sign up the customer for the Saskatchewan Economic Recovery Rebate.
“These individuals are NOT affiliated with SaskPower and are likely collecting information for illegal purposes,” SaskPower said in a media release. “A scam in early December 2020 saw individuals making similar claims on customer’s doorsteps.”
Anyone who gets a call like that should contact SaskPower customer service at 1-888-757-6937 or their local police service.
