A working smoke alarm prevented a house fire from becoming fatal this week in Regina.
Regina Fire and Protective Services was called to 103 Salemka Cres. in Argyle Park before 5:30 a.m. Tuesday. When crews arrived, the home was fully engulfed in flames.
Five people were able to escape the home and were taken to hospital by EMS.
Regina fire said its investigation revealed the home had a functioning smoke detector, something it said prevented the loss of life.
No word yet on what caused the fire.
