The community of Bradwell came together Friday over a small FM radio transmission to raise funds for those in need.
The fundraiser for Telemiracle, described last Sunday as a ‘mini-Telemiracle’ by organizer Adele Yanke, ended up going well within its four-hour Friday timeslot.
“It went absolutely amazing,” Yanke told 650 CKOM Sunday. “We actually got a decent range outside of the Bradwell area.”
The radio show was broadcast to the area on a 91.1 FM transmitter, put together by Cherry Tree House Productions. Yanke said by 10:05 p.m. Friday, the final totals were in for the fundraiser.
The group raised $3,030, more than doubling its original goal of $1,500.
“For our first time, it just rolled along great,” Yanke added. “We had fantastic entertainers who did such an amazing job … To volunteer their time the way they did to entertain us through the evening … we had generous pledges from people, businesses.”

Yanke said the local bar, Hank’s Tavern, also got in on the fundraiser. They were able to play the show at the facility, raising $500 for the event.
She also shared how she felt about the community of Bradwell stepping up in such a big way.
“(They are) such big-hearted, generous people,” she said. “We were getting donations of $100, then $250, then $500 … the numbers are going up and the excitement in that area … (It was) just so nuts.”
Moving forward, Yanke said now that the community has worked out the formula for this type of fundraiser, it may show up more for community events.
“This was just something, so new. I love continuing traditions but with traditions, we can always add in a thing here or there and just make it even better. We (saw) that this year,” she said.
“Our entertainers are more than willing to all come back, and we may even look at doing similar events for other fundraisers throughout this year because we know it works … it’s simple and effective.”
Yanke said she and three others worked the phones through the night, updating totals as well.
On top of performing, Topher Mills joined Angie Rolheiser of northeastNOW and CJVR in Melfort as the co-hosts for the evening show.
If people are still looking to donate, the Bradwell fundraiser is still open online, added Yanke.
“We have a MyCharity page on the Telemiracle website,” she said. “We’re still leaving the pledge line open for anyone who missed out during our radio show that night.”
