No COVID-related deaths were reported in Saskatchewan Sunday, the second time in four days the province hasn’t registered a death from the virus.
In a news release, the Ministry of Health also revealed that active cases took a significant dip.
There were 161 new cases reported, along with 247 recoveries. That drops the active caseload to 1,864.
The new cases are located in the Saskatoon (51), Regina (31), northwest (16), north-central (10), far northeast (10), far northwest (seven), northeast (six), central-west (seven), south-central (five) and southeast (seven) areas. Contact tracers are still looking into the location for four new infections.
One previously reported case has been assigned to each of the northwest and far northeast zones.
The seven-day average of daily new cases is now 163, or 13.3 cases per 100,000 people.
There are 183 people in hospital, 164 of which are receiving inpatient care.
Nineteen people are in intensive care in the Saskatoon (eight), Regina (eight), northwest (one), north-central (one) and central-east (one) regions.
Of the 164 people receiving inpatient care, 56 are located in Saskatoon, 41 are in Regina, 23 are in the north-central, 19 are in the northwest, 10 are in the central-east, five are in the southeast, three are in the northeast, two are in the far northwest, two are in the far northeast, and one is located in each of the central west, south-central and southwest zones.
Since the pandemic hit Saskatchewan last March, there have been 26,550 infections, 24,332 recoveries and 354 deaths.
There were 2,342 tests performed Saturday, bringing that total to 543,586.
There were 1,079 COVID-19 vaccine doses administered Saturday.
The total number of doses administered is now at 49,645. Drawing extra doses from vaccines delivered already, the province has been able to administer 107 per cent of the doses to date.
The 1,079 doses were administered in the following zones: far northwest (88), far north-central (40), central-east (22) and north-central (929).
