A familiar face is returning to the Saskatchewan Roughriders.
The CFL team announced Friday it had signed free-agent linebacker Kevin Francis to a one-year contract.
The 27-year-old product of Toronto began his CFL career with Saskatchewan in 2016, after the Roughriders selected him in the supplemental draft out of North Carolina A&T University.
The 6-foot-5, 220-pounder appeared in 45 regular-season games over three seasons with Saskatchewan, recording 29 special-teams tackles, 15 defensive stops and two forced fumbles.
He spent the 2019 season with the Ottawa Redblacks, making eight special-teams stops in seven games.
Francis signed with the B.C. Lions prior to the 2020 season but didn’t play a game with them as that campaign was wiped out by COVID-19.
