For two consecutive days, there have been over 2000 vaccines administered in the province as 2,412 people in Saskatchewan received doses on Friday.
There have now been 41,254 vaccines delivered throughout the province, including 11,850 doses that arrived in the province this week
The ministry reported 264 new cases of COVID, a slight decrease compared to Thursday. There were also 145 recoveries. Four people died from the virus.
Two deaths were reported in the 50 to 59 age group from the far northwest (one) and northwest (one) zones; and two deaths were reported in the 80 plus age group from the Regina (one) and southeast (one) zones.
That raises the total deaths so far to 336.
The new cases throughout the province are located in the far northwest (12), far north-central (four), far northeast (nine), northwest (31), north-central (13), northeast (nine), Saskatoon (58), central-west (seven), central-east (27), Regina (61), south-central (six) and southeast (11) zones, and sixteen (16) cases with pending a location.
Eight cases where the location was under investigation were assigned to the far northwest (one), far northeast (one), northwest (one), north-central (one), central-east (one), Regina (two) and southeast (one) zones. One case was found to be a duplicate and was removed from the Regina zone.
In total, 2,413 cases of COVID are considered active throughout the province.
There are 207 people with COVID-19 in hospitals throughout the province.
There are 180 people that are receiving inpatient care in the far northwest (two), northwest (21), north-central (22), northeast (three), Saskatoon (67), central-west (one), central-east (10), Regina (50) and southeast (four).
There are 27 people in intensive care across the province fighting the virus, including in the northwest (one), north-central (one), Saskatoon (11), central-east (three), Regina (10) and southwest (one).
There were 3,149 COVID-19 tests processed in Saskatchewan Friday.
The Ministry of Health is encouraging people to be aware of COVID-19 guidelines ahead of Super Bowl Sunday.
“The province has observed increased cases after holiday weekends and special events,” it wrote in the release. “Stay apart and stay safe and keep the Super Bowl a safe event for everyone.”
