The Saskatchewan Roughriders now have their talented trio of receivers from 2018 locked up for 2021.
The CFL team announced Wednesday it had signed slotback Jordan Williams-Lambert to a one-year contract extension to keep him with the team through 2021. The 26-year-old could have become a free agent on Feb. 9.
Williams-Lambert enjoyed a successful first CFL season in 2018 alongside fellow rookie receivers Shaq Evans and Kyran Moore. Evans and Moore previously had re-signed with Saskatchewan this off-season.
Williams-Lambert was named the West Division’s most outstanding rookie that season with 764 yards and four touchdowns on a team-leading 62 receptions. He turned it into an opportunity with the NFL’s Chicago Bears.
The Illinois product returned to the Roughriders in September of 2019 after three pre-season games with the Bears. After returning, Williams-Lambert played in three games, recording five catches for 57 yards.
Before joining the Roughriders, Williams-Lambert signed with the New Orleans Saints as an undrafted free agent in May of 2016.
Williams-Lambert played four seasons at Ball State University, recording 200 receptions for 2,723 yards and 24 touchdowns over 44 games.
