An investigation that began in December of 2018 has resulted in a second-degree murder charge against a Buffalo Narrows man.
In a media release Wednesday, the Saskatchewan RCMP said its Major Crimes Unit North (MCU-N) had charged a 67-year-old man in connection with the death of 42-year-old Jason Chartier of Buffalo Narrows.
Chartier’s death on Dec. 20, 2018, was deemed suspicious by the Mounties at the time of the incident.
After interviewing witnesses, examining the scene and gathering evidence, MCU-N — with the assistance of the Buffalo Narrows RCMP, North Battleford and Regina RCMP Forensic Identification Services (FIS) and the RCMP’s MCU-South — determined it was a murder.
On Tuesday, the Mounties arrested the 67-year-old and charged him with second-degree murder. He was to make his first appearance in court in Buffalo Narrows on Wednesday.
