Another seven people in Saskatchewan who contracted COVID-19 have died.
In its daily update, the province said four of the deaths were in the north-central region — one person aged 70 to 79 and three others over 80 years old, two of the deaths were recorded in the Regina zone — a person aged 60 to 69 and a person in the 80-plus group and one new death in the southeast between 50 and 59 years old.
There are 332 new COVID-19 cases in Saskatchewan with cases reported in Saskatoon (74), Regina (57), northwest (44), southeast (32), northeast (30), north-central (18), far northeast (17), central east (14), far northwest (nine), far north-central (eight), south-central (eight) and the central west (two) zones.
Another 19 cases are pending residence information.
The province also discovered three duplicate cases — two from the northwest and one case from the central east — and removed them from the total number of cases.
The seven-day average of new cases has increased, up from 262 on Friday to 289 on Saturday.
A total of 14,426 people have recovered and 3,186 cases are considered active.
There are 179 people in hospital due to COVID-19.
One hundred and seventy-nine people are in hospital, with 38 people in ICU across the province. There are 13 patients in ICU in Regina, nine in Saskatoon, five in the north-central, two in the central-east and one in the northwest.
Of the 149 people receiving inpatient care, they are located in Saskatoon (46), Regina (38), north-central (29), southeast (11), central east (nine), northwest (nine), northeast (three), far north-central (one) and the far northwest (one).
The province also warned of a delay with “minimal details” available in Sunday’s daily COVID-19 update. A full weekend update can be expected on Monday.
Another 949 COVID-19 vaccines were administered. As of Saturday, a total of 6,964 doses have been given across Saskatchewan, including 2,069 Pfizer doses and 788 second doses in the Regina pilot program, 2,681 Pfizer doses in Saskatoon, 386 Pfizer doses in Prince Albert, 482 Moderna doses in the Far northwest, 65 Moderna doses in the far north-central and 493 Moderna vaccinations administered Friday in the far northeast.
