Harris said his final few seasons in Toronto helped prepare him to be a coach.
A bye week didn’t appear to phase the Saskatchewan Rush, who came to play from the opening whistle in a 13-10 win over Calgary on Friday.
With the win, the Rush (8-3) are a perfect 6-0 at home and just one win away from clinching a playoff berth.
Nine different players scored for the Rush, who if not for penalty trouble in the third, may have won by a larger margin.
Among the goal scorers was an unlikely hero. Captain Chris Corbeil had a pair, including a highlight reel goal set up by Jeff Cornwall and Curtis Knight. Cornwall ran the floor and tossed the ball to Knight, who faked the goalie and found Corbeil across the crease with a wide open net.
“I’m like, ok, just put in in the empty net, don’t mess this up,” laughed Corbeil post-game.

Robert Church, Dan Taylor and Mark Matthews all scored a pair of their own. Matthews added five assists for a seven-point night and moves his season point total to 73 through 11 games.
Mike Messenger, Jeff Cornwall, Matthew Dinsdale, Curtis Knight, and Jeremy Thompson each added singles. Aaron Bold made 43 saves on 53 shots.
While the Rush carried the play and dominated five on five, some penalty trouble got Calgary within spitting distance.
The Roughnecks scored six power play goals on nine opportunities, led by Dane Dobbie, who led the team with four goals.
“They got an excellent power play,” said head coach Derek Keenan. “I think we had some discipline problems and that’s what made it a game.”
After 13 days off, the Rush wrap up a two game in two night weekend on the road against the Colorado Mammoth. The Rush board a 3:45 a.m. flight from Saskatoon to Minneapolis, which will connect them to Denver.
“It would be massive (to win) anytime to get two wins against divisional opponents, it’s huge,” said captain Chris Corbeil.
The Rush enters Saturday’s meeting with the Mammoth holding a two-game lead atop the West Division. They also have two games in hand and get some added firepower as Adam Jones returns after missing Friday night’s game.
