A 26-year-old woman is to appear in Melfort Provincial Court on Thursday in connection with an incident that occurred in November on the One Arrow First Nation.
The woman, who had been the subject of an arrest warrant, was located Friday on the One Arrow First Nation by members of the Wakaw RCMP with the assistance of officers from the Rosthern detachment.
She’s to appear in court to face charges of abducting a child under 14, breaking and entering, committing the indictable offence of abduction and assault.
In the evening of Nov. 14, the Wakaw RCMP was called about a number of disturbances that had occurred on the One Arrow First Nation.
Officers were advised that during one of the disturbances, a woman had entered a home, assaulted a woman inside and left with the woman’s four-month-old son.
The child later was found unharmed by his mother at another residence on the First Nation.
Police subsequently identified the suspect — who was known to the family — and issued a warrant for her arrest.
The One Arrow First Nation is about 100 kilometres northeast of Saskatoon.
