The Ahtahkakoop RCMP is reporting a murder, although it’s not yet clear exactly when it happened.
On Thursday, Saskatchewan RCMP Major Crimes Unit North and officers from the Ahtahkakoop RCMP detachment attended the scene of a suspicious sudden death at a rural property approximately 32 kilometres north of Shellbrook, along Highway 240.
The victim has been identified as 48-year-old Bradley John Schmalz, a resident of the RM of Shellbrook.
According to a media release issued by the RCMP on Monday, Schmalz’s death is being handled as a murder, which investigators believe occurred sometime between Oct. 12 and Thursday.
An autopsy was to conducted Monday in Saskatoon to further examine the circumstances surrounding Schmalz’s death.
Officers are encouraging anyone who may have information concerning this investigation, including anyone who may have been in contact with Schmalz leading up to Oct. 12 through Oct. 15, to contact the Ahtahkakoop RCMP at 306-747-2606.
