A Saskatchewan-based mining company has been fined $150,000 for a workplace injury that occurred two years ago.
According to a media release from the provincial government, Nutrien Ltd., pleaded guilty to one count under The Occupational Health and Safety Regulations in Moosomin Provincial Court last week.
On Aug. 2, 2018, a worker suffered serious injuries while working on a solid bowl centrifuge at the Nutrien Rocanville Mine Mill.
The company, operating as Potash Corporation of Saskatchewan Inc., pleaded guilty to one charge of failing to provide “information, instruction, training and supervision that is necessary to protect the health and safety of workers at work.”
Another charge was withdrawn.
The company was fined $107,142.85, with a surcharge of $42,857.15.
