Saskatchewan reported seven new cases of COVID-19 on Monday, including three that have been connected to the outbreak at Brandt Industries in Saskatoon.
So far, 17 cases have been linked to that workplace.
The seven new cases — five in the Saskatoon area and one each in the Regina and southeast zones — increased the provincial total to date to 1,814.
There were two recoveries reported Monday, raising that total so far to 1,645. To date, 24 Saskatchewan residents have died after testing positive for COVID-19.
There are 145 active cases being reported, with 27 of those in communal living settings.
There are 10 people in hospital, with one of them in intensive care in Saskatoon. Nine people are receiving inpatient care, with seven in Saskatoon, one in Regina and one in the south-central zone.
The provincial government reminded residents that those who don’t abide by public health orders could be fined.
The current orders in Saskatchewan limit indoor and outdoor gatherings to a maximum of 30 people, provided attendees can meet physical distancing guidelines.
Disobeying the public health order could lead to a $2,000 fine for individuals and a $10,000 fine for corporations. The organizer of a private gathering in Saskatoon that exceeded the maximum size recently received a $2,000 fine.
Hours at Regina drive-through centre extended
The government announced Monday it’s expanding the hours of the drive-through testing facility in Regina.
The building at the International Trade Centre at Evraz Place now will be open Wednesdays as well as Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays.
The hours of operation on weekdays are 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. It’s open Saturdays from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
The Saskatoon facility at 3630 Thatcher Ave., is open Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays from noon to 7:15 p.m., and Saturdays and Sundays from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.
A look at the numbers
The provincial total so far comprises 887 community contacts, 525 cases that don’t have any known exposures, 271 travellers, and 131 cases that are under investigation by local public health.
The total also includes 69 health-care workers.
There have been 591 cases in the 20-to-39 age range, 561 between the ages of 40 and 59, 303 involving people 19 and under, 298 in the 60-to-79 age range, and 61 among people 80 and over.
The total comprises 439 cases from the south area (222 southwest, 199 south-central, 18 southeast), 357 in the far north (349 far northwest, eight far northeast), 353 from the Saskatoon area, 271 in the north zone (131 northwest, 73 north-central, 67 northeast), 234 from the central area (172 central-west, 62 central-east) and 160 in the Regina region.
There were 1,819 tests done in Saskatchewan on Sunday, increasing the province’s total so far to 173,764.
