Is Bryson DeChambeau going to change golf, if he isn’t changing it already?
DeChambeau is putting on muscle weight. He’d like to be the size of an NFL defensive end if he can, at 270 pounds.
He swings hard and he uses math and physics. He lines up putts differently. He breathes differently. Basically, the man nicknamed “The Scientist” on tour does almost everything differently.
Even his clubs are the exact same length and weight.
He’s won before but over the last couple of weeks, since he was able to dig into his weight training regime during the COVID delay, DeChambeau has been a dominant force.
And now, he’s a major champion for the first time and blew away the field at the difficult U.S. Open with the only score under par and a six-shot victory.
Some players like Brooks Koepka have mocked DeChambeau and his philosophy, but if the results continue to come, look for more guys who look like NFL linebackers walking up and down the fairways on tour.
