A stolen statue of the Virgin Mary has been found, but will require some restoration work, according to the RCMP.
The statue was stolen earlier this week in the Village of Debden. It’s part of the “Our Lady of Fatima” World War Two memorial shrine.
A spokesperson for the RCMP informed paNOW the statue has been returned to the church, and the church and the offending party have agreed to try and work things out. No charges are being laid.
A post on the Debden community Facebook page indicated Mary “just needs a little TLC but great condition considering.”
The RCMP is not providing any further detail with regard to how the 400-pound statue was lifted from the shrine, but a community member told paNOW there were large vehicle tracks leading up to the site.
