A 39-year-old man faces numerous drug- and firearms-related charges after the Saskatoon Police Service’s Drug Unit executed a search warrant in the Nutana area early Thursday morning.
In a release, police say at around 1:15 a.m., with the help of Patrol, Tactical Support, Canine and Air Support units, a search warrant was executed at a home in the 700 block of Dufferin Avenue.
It was the result of an investigation into the trafficking of methamphetamine and GHB.
In the home, police found and seized:
- 759 grams of methamphetamine;
- 168 grams of fentanyl;
- $965 in Canadian currency;
- 22 litres of suspected GHB;
- A loaded handgun;
- A loaded rifle;
- A loaded shotgun;
- Hundreds of rounds of ammunition;
- Two cellphones; and,
- Scales and other items commonly associated to drug trafficking.
Two vehicles were also searched as part of the warrant and police found an additional 0.72 grams of methamphetamine.
The 39-year-old man is charged with:
- Four counts of possession of a firearm contrary to an order;
- Four counts of careless storage of a firearm;
- Three counts of possession of a dangerous weapon;
- Three counts of possession of a firearm knowing its possession is unauthorized;
- Three counts of possession of a firearm obtained by commission of an offence;
- Trafficking methamphetamine;
- Possession for the purpose of trafficking methamphetamine, fentanyl and GHB;
- Possession of a prohibited device contrary to an order;
- Possession of a prohibited firearm with ammunition;
- Possession of a prohibited device;
- Possession of stolen property under $5,000; and,
- Two counts of breach of a court order.
A 42-year-old man is charged with possession for the purpose of trafficking GHB, fentanyl and methamphetamine and possession of stolen property under $5,000.
