Carol Reynolds is brewing up a race to represent Ward 7 in the upcoming civic election.
Reynolds, the owner of Simply Grounded Coffee in Saskatoon since 2017, announced her intentions to run for city council Thursday.
After spending most of her career in government and public relations, the local entrepreneur is ready to represent the people of Ward 7 with a campaign platform centred around safety, taxes and local business support.
“The city needs to provide support to our frontlines to do their jobs safely and efficiently. This includes police, fire and healthcare workers…..many would say that teachers should be in that category soon as well. We need to do as much as we can as a city to protect our residents,” Reynolds said in a news release.
Another top priority to Reynolds is taxes and accountability.
“For the past few months, families and businesses have had to streamline their budgets, taking cost-cutting measures, downsizing and refocusing on their top priorities — I believe our city needs to do the same,” Reynolds said.
As a local business owner herself, Reynolds is hoping to give as much support as possible to entrepreneurs struggling during the COVID-19 pandemic.
“Shopping local is more important now more than ever – I hear it every day. Residents want to support local small businesses who employ their friends, family and neighbours,” she said.
“I have built my business from the ground up and kept the doors open throughout our current pandemic. I have laid people off and I have brought them back on board. I know what resilience is — and I am ready to bring my experience to Saskatoon City Council.”
Municipal elections in Saskatchewan will be held on Nov. 9.
