SHA issues a COVID-19 advisory for the RMs of Cut Knife and Hillsdale

In a release, the Saskatchewan Health Authority (SHA) said it is issuing an advisory about an increase in community transmission of COVID-19 in the Rural Municipalities of Cut Knife and Hillsdale with four confirmed cases, most of which are not linked to one another. The mode of acquisition could not be established for two cases.

Medical Health Officer Dr. Mandiangu Nsungu says that “while contact tracing is ongoing, all residents in the area are requested to be vigilant, practice physical distancing (staying at least 2 meters apart from each other), ensure proper hand hygiene (handwashing with water and soap or use of hand sanitizer when water and soap are not available), and use a mask when in a public area indoors.”

In the release, ​the SHA said it issues a public health alert as a precaution when it is not able to clearly identify all possible close contacts during a period when there was a risk of transmission of the virus. It said COVID-19 is easily transmitted and it wants to ensure residents are aware if there is an elevated risk of community transmission.
