15-year-old girl charged with murder in death of 19-year-old woman

Saskatoon police have charged a 15-year-old girl with second-degree murder after a woman was found dead in a car near a Confederation Park apartment building last weekend.

Hailey Belanger-Weeseekase, 19, was found dead last Saturday at an apartment complex on the 3700 block of Diefenbaker Drive. Her sister told 650 CKOM Weeseekase was trying to leave the gang life behind at the time of her death.

Police arrested the girl at the Kilburn Hall Youth Centre where she was being held in custody on unrelated charges.

It’s believed the victim and the accused knew each other.

The girl is scheduled to appear in Saskatoon Provincial Court at 9 a.m. on July 20.
