Anyone trying to pay their bills using Interac e-Transfer before the long weekend may be in trouble.
Major banks are not able to process any e-Tranfers while the system is offline.
Interac tweeted a statement Friday afternoon they have taken the Interac e-Transfer service offline.
The company said the move will allow them to best address “internal technical difficulties” causing the disruption.
Interac reassures the public any transfers currently in transit are secure and will be processed when the system is back online.
The company confirms the system and data remain secure.

This is the second time in 24 hours the service has been offline.
Interac said its making every effort to bring the platform back up and running.
No other Interac products or services have been affected.
