A grease fire at the McDonald’s on 51st Street caused $10,000 damage early Sunday morning.
Firefighters were called to the restaurant at about 12:13 a.m. after staff there had attempted to extinguish the fire and weren’t successful.
When crews arrived, all of the occupants of the McDonald’s had self-evacuated.
A fire investigator determined the fire was an accidental grease fire that originated inside a commercial deep fryer.
Condominium fire
Damage is pegged at $100,000 after a fire broke out at a condominium in the Stonebridge area on Sunday.
Fire crews were called out to the 100 block of Willis Crescent at around 12:48 p.m.
When crews arrived, they found that all of the buildings occupants self-evacuated.
Firefighters found water flowing and smoke coming out of a unit in the building. They entered the unit and found that the sprinkler system had suppressed the fire in the kitchen.
While doing a search of the unit, one cat was found and removed by firefighters. The release from the fire department said the cat did not appear to be in any distress when rescued.
The fire investigator has deemed the fire to have been accidental and to have originated in the kitchen.
Silverwood Heights fire
Damage is estimated to be $150,000 after a fire started in the basement of a Silverwood Heights home.
It happened Saturday afternoon in the 100 block of Stechishin Crescent.
When firefighters arrived, they found everyone from the home outside and uninjured.
Fire crews were able to contain the fire to the basement.
The fire investigator is continuing to analyze the scene to identify a cause and origin.
Vehicle Fire
Firefighters were called to an early morning vehicle fire on Sunday.
When they responded to the 400 block of Avenue U South they found two small fires burning on the outside of a vehicle.
The fire looked to be suspicious and was later confirmed to have been deliberately set.
Damage is estimated at $2,500.
