Projects ranging in cost from $2,000 for dust control on the streets of Ridgedale to $1.65 million for the Estevan Police Service administrative building are set to receive funding from the Saskatchewan government.
In a media release Monday, Government Relations Minister Lori Carr announced the first projects that have been approved under the 2020 Municipal Economic Enhancement Program (MEEP). The 55 projects are worth more than $7.4 million.
“Through investments like the new MEEP, which focuses on municipal projects and initiatives which will help residents get back to work, Saskatchewan will recover from the devastating economic effects of the COVID-19 pandemic,” Carr said in the release.
“It is exciting to see communities taking advantage of this program by submitting a variety of projects that will improve their local infrastructure, capital assets to provide services, and ultimately strengthen their communities.”
In 2020, MEEP will provide $150 million to projects across the province. A complete list of the projects approved so far appears below.
Funding received in the 2020 program must be used by March 31, 2022.
