With Phase 3 of the Re-Open Saskatchewan plan to take effect Monday, the number of active COVID-19 cases in the province has fallen to 27.
It’s the lowest-such number since there were 26 cases on March 20.
In a media release Friday, the provincial government announced there was one new case, increasing the total number of cases in Saskatchewan so far to 649.
The latest case is in the far north.
There also were three more recoveries, meaning a total of 611 people are said to have recovered from the virus so far.
There have been 11 deaths due to complications from COVID-19 in the province to date.
Of the active cases, 17 are in the far north, four are in Regina, three are in Saskatoon, two are in the north and one is in the south. There aren’t any active cases in the central region.
One person is in hospital; that individual is in intensive care in Saskatoon.
Of the total number of cases, 390 are community contacts, 143 are travellers, 79 don’t have any known exposures, and 37 are being investigated by local public health authorities.
The total includes 51 health-care workers.
There have been 258 cases in the far north, 170 from the Saskatoon area, 112 in the north, 80 from the Regina area, 17 in the south and 12 from the central region.
The total comprises 230 cases in the 20-to-39 age range, 198 between the ages of 40 and 59, 106 in the 60-to-79 range, 97 people aged 19 or under, and 18 in the 80-and-over range.
The 682 tests done Thursday increase the provincial total to date to 50,597.
