The NHL announced a return-to-play plan and it was a burst of optimism for sports fans who aren’t getting their fill with UFC, Bundesliga and the odd charity golf match.

To have NHL commissioner Gary Bettman say, “Here is our plan to come back,” was a relief. Can I critique the format? Sure. But when push comes to shove, I’m not going to complain too much with the potential of watching playoff hockey, even if it’s a 30-degree day in August.
