A small grass fire reported around 7:30 Thursday evening could be seen from the CN Rail overpass on Highway 7 on Saskatoon’s west side.
Saskatoon Fire Battalion Chief Rob Hogan says a couple of 911 calls were received about the blaze. Crews now have it under control and are putting out several hot spots.
At this point it’s not clear how the fire began, but no one has been injured and there is no property loss.
Hogan says conditions in and around Saskatoon are extremely dry right now, and he’s urging residents to be careful when discarding smoking materials or lighting any outdoor fires.
