The Saskatchewan Health Authority (SHA) says it’s working closely with Saskatoon police after a number of vehicle thefts near St. Paul’s Hospital (SPH).
On Sunday, a Facebook post began circulating about five vehicles being broken into near the hospital. As of Wednesday afternoon, the post by user Katelyn Butz had been shared by nearly 400 users.
Definitely not what I wanted to see after my 12 hour night shift at the hospital, especially during a global pandemic……

In an email to 650 CKOM, SHA media relations specialist Amanda Purcell said the authority is aware of the thefts taking place around the Pleasant Hill area.
“These incidents are currently being investigated by Saskatoon Police Service (SPS). Our protective services unit is working closely with SPS to provide investigative leads and other useful information as needed,” the email reads.
“Protective services is also doing additional foot patrols on the grounds to help deter any illegal activity on St. Paul’s Hospital property.”
In the original Facebook post, Butz explained how these acts aren’t out of the ordinary.
“Unfortunately, this is nothing new and something that happens every other day at SPH because we’re an inner city hospital that lacks viable parking and security.”
SHA added that vehicle theft is happening within the parkade of SPH, as well.
