10:00 – Former Reform Party Leader Preston Manning’s new book “Do Something” calls for policy makers to work closely with the scientific community and make decisions based on evidence rather than emotion and fear, and given the COVID-19 pandemic, the advice is more timely than ever. Manning says any crisis is a good excuse for governments to seize more power and expand the state, and we need to be aware of that and push back. He also cautions against admiring or emulating authoritarian regimes like China, even though they appear to have done a good job managing the crisis.
