The Saskatchewan Registered Nurses Association is now compiling a bank of eligible, qualified RNs across the province as medical support, if necessary.
They may be retired, or grad nurses as well.
A notice sent out to RNs from Executive Director Cindy Smith, indicates members are implementing their plan to mobilize, and are asking anyone who is interested in helping, to apply for an emergency license.
If approved, the license would be good for 30 days, with the possibility of an extension.
According to information on its website, a special team will be manually expediting applications for those who qualify.
According to the information published, categories eligible for emergency practicing licensure include:
RNs from another Canadian jurisdiction, grad nurses eligible to write the NCLEX in Saskatchewan or another province, those who meet English eligibility requirements and retired or non-practicing RNs who meet hourly bylaw requirements.
More information is available on the SRNA website.
