People who make a living preying on the vulnerable during a crisis are making their mark during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Saskatoon Police are warning the public to be on the lookout for online scams related to fake cleaning products, treatments and medicines. Fraudsters are also impersonating doctors and nurses to obtain a victim’s bank and credit card information.

“We haven’t received any (reports) at the police service. However, it doesn’t mean they aren’t happening. They most likely are,” said Staff Sergeant Tony Nadon.
He said they’ve heard of reports in eastern Canada and British Columbia where outbreaks have been more severe. He warns the public to keep their guard up as it is only a matter of time before the scams pop up in Saskatchewan.
“It’s being informed properly and knowing that if it sounds too good, it’s probably not true.”
