Customers flocking en masse to Costco could be waiting to refill the toilet paper supply.
At least one Costco location in Saskatoon is warning of chain supply delays after a truck bringing a shipment of supplies like toilet paper and other items was delayed during its journey.
Maureen Clark watched the day’s events unfold from the Costco food court, amid the rush for supplies during the COVID-19 evolving situation.
“It’s interesting to watch what people are stocking up on. You go over to the toilet paper aisle, there’s nothing left. No bread, produce is much lower today.”
“I’ve seen more people today in one place wearing face masks than I’ve ever seen before. I think people are pretty anxious about this virus.”
Clark said a staff member told customers to expect delays in shipments.
Earlier in the afternoon, there was a situation that unfolded at the facility, Clark said.
“In the parking lot, they had to call the police. There was somebody driving around yelling, and screaming, and telling people they were crazy to wait in line. Then he came into the store, did the same thing, so they called the police.”
Saskatoon police confirmed they responded, spoke to the man and it did not lead to an arrest.
