The Western Hockey League (WHL) is advising its teams to limit fan interactions to prevent coronavirus infection, but at least one Saskatchewan team is still considering what to do.
The Saskatoon Blades are still considering WHL recommendations to change operations to stem the spread of COVID-19, before the next home game on March 18th.
The guidelines put forward by the league Tuesday include eliminating fan autographs and high-fives with players. It also advises players, team officials and on-ice officials not to shake hands with each other. Players are also being told to stop sharing water bottles or towels on benches or penalty box areas.
Tyler Wawryk, director of business operations with the Blades, told 650 CKOM the team hasn’t made a decision on the recommendations, and for now, autograph sessions will continue as scheduled. But he says a decision will be made before the next home game.
650 CKOM also reached out to the Swift Current Broncos, who declined comment and directed all questions to the WHL’s communications team.
The WHL has yet to respond to a request for comment.
