McMorris brothers in Saskatoon to help with Diefenbaker hill campaign

Saskatoon’s Optimist Club is trying to build a permanent snow hill at Diefenbaker Park and it got the endorsement of pro snowboarders, the McMorris brothers Wednesday afternoon.

Olympic medalist Mark McMorris and his brother Craig had a personal signing and snowboard session with the kids, it was followed by the McMorris Gala in support of the hill campaign.

“We are quite excited with the progress we’ve been making with the project,” said Chair of the campaign Rob Lett, on the Brent Loucks show this morning.

Despite the warm temperatures and snowless conditions this past week, it won’t affect the hill when it’s constructed.

“We have a couple snow guns to make snow every day,” Lett said.

“We actually had to truck in snow for our event today.”

When the hill is complete it will be 77 feet with nearly 400 feet of usable slope. A chalet will also be eventually built at the site.

“We really appreciate the effort of the McMorris brothers to help us out,” Lett said.

The goal is to raise $1.5 million and they hope to break ground in July 2017.

The McMorris’s declined an interview request with 650 CKOM.
