Chris Jones became the big boss of football in Saskatchewan a year ago and he’d tell you he deserves an ‘F’ grade because he didn’t put a winning team on the field.
But what’s bigger is Year 2 of his tenure. This next 365 days will set up his legacy in Saskatchewan. With so many believing Darian Durant is done in Saskatchewan, this sets up Jones to either be a hero or a zero in football mad Saskatchewan.
When we look back a year from now and Jones couldn’t find the next quarterback, the losses continue to mount, he’ll likely go down as one of the biggest busts in CFL history.
If that next QB comes in, the team wins and there is a semblance of a Grey Cup Champion on the horizon – if not already holding the trophy, they may start looking for room around the new Mosaic Stadium for a statue.
Year 1 was full of hiccups, speedbumps and embarrassment.
Year 2 must be as close to a 180 as you get.
