The NHL all-star weekend is here, so here are the winners and losers of the first half of the NHL season.
Winner – Florida Panthers! We all knew they were getting better but now they’re on their way to just their third playoff appearance in 20 years.
Loser – Toronto Maple Leafs. Fired the coach and still out of the playoffs. Kyle Dubas has himself some work to do.
Winner – Edmonton Oilers. This year they don’t have to be embarrassed that they have the best player in the league and don’t have a sniff at the playoffs.
Loser – New Jersey Devils. Pre-season hype was a lot of hot air.
Winner – Arizona Coyotes. Like the Panthers, the Coyotes are in a playoff spot after seven straight years out of contention.
Winner – Fans. There are some crazy playoff races to come in the final 30 or so games in the season. Just take one look at the Pacific Division and try to figure out where those teams will end up.
